Road TO Dev — Let’s animate!
Ok so let’s add a little flair to our powerup! I have some premade animations for it so I am just going to show you how to hook it up in unity. Thanks to Unity this is very easy really! First we need to make sure we have the animation window and I’ve attached it to my game section but you can do it anywhere.
Now make sure you are working on the prefabe from your Project area or you’ll have to remember to apply this when done. I also recommend creating an Animation folder to help organize our assets better. Once this is done and you have the prefab selected there should be a Create button in that new animation window so we click that and navigate to the new folder. You can name this whatever you want but it’s recommended to add _anim at the end.
Once that is done just navigate to where you have the sprites setup for your animation. Start from first to last and shift select them. Then drag them over to the animation window. You should see the keyframes get setup.
There are a lot of options and features for animations, but this one is quite simple and if done correctly you can just hit the play button in the animation window to test it and see it play out in the scene view.
